Supporting Eating Disorders Awareness Week – A Small Moment, A Big Impact

At Baker Tom, we believe in the power of food to bring people together, to comfort, and to nourish—not just physically, but emotionally too. Recently, we received a heartfelt, anonymous letter from a customer who shared how a simple encounter with one of our Kernow Curls became a profound moment in her recovery from anorexia. Her story deeply moved us and reminded us how important awareness and support are in the fight against eating disorders.

That’s why, this Eating Disorders Awareness Week (24th Feb – 2nd March), we are proudly supporting Beat – the UK’s leading eating disorder charity by donating 10% of every Kernow Curl sold during the week to help fund their essential work.

Why This Matters

Eating disorders affect 1 in 50 people in the UK, yet less than 50% receive the help they need. These illnesses don’t have a ‘look’—they can impact anyone, at any stage of life, and recovery is often a long and challenging journey. Research shows that early intervention can triple the chances of recovery, making awareness and access to support absolutely vital.

Beat provides life-changing services, including helplines, online support groups, and educational resources for those affected by eating disorders and their loved ones. By raising awareness and funds, we hope to contribute to their mission of ensuring that no one faces an eating disorder alone.

How You Can Help

Supporting Eating Disorders Awareness Week is as simple as enjoying one of our delicious Kernow Curls. For every one sold this week, we’ll donate 10% to Beat, helping them continue their incredible work. Whether you visit one of our Baker Tom shops or grab a Kernow Curl from a local stockist, every bite makes a difference.

You can also help by:

  • Learning more about eating disorders and the signs to look out for. Visit Beat’s website for guidance and resources.

  • Sharing this message to raise awareness.

  • Donating directly to Beat here.

Let’s Break the Stigma Together

Food should be a source of joy, comfort, and connection. By standing together and supporting Eating Disorders Awareness Week, we can help break the stigma, encourage open conversations, and ensure that those struggling receive the support they need.

Join us this week in making a difference—one Kernow Curl at a time. 💜
