At Baker Tom’s, we’re proud of our roots, our bread, and our Cornish community. Whether you’re a long-time fan or just discovering our loaves, here are 20 facts that celebrate what makes our bakery so special — from the early days of bike deliveries to the hand-shaped sourdoughs coming out of our ovens today.
1. We began with a bike and a few loaves.
Back in 2005, our founder Tom Hazzledine started Baker Tom in Cornwall with just a handful of homemade loaves — delivered locally by bike!
2. We bake the traditional way.
Our breads are made using time-honoured methods like long fermentation and hand-shaping, giving every loaf its depth of flavour and signature crust.

We never use additives or preservatives. Just simple, honest ingredients that let the bread speak for itself.
4. Organic flour is our go-to.
Wherever possible, we choose organic flour to support sustainable farming and better flavour.
